It's not often you see a little Black girl with pink hair- but why not?
Growing up in our communities, colorful hair was always seen as "grown" or inappropriate for little Black girls; meanwhile, our non-Black peers wore their hair in any color or style they pleased. In the world that I create with this painting, this reality is obsolete.
